This is proving to be a fantastic series so far! I was hooked from the first chapter and the further I delve into it the more I like it. It almost goes without saying at this point but Mochizuki's art is top notch as always. Each panel is very clear and you never feel lost regarding what's taking place.Both of our protagonists, Noé and Vanitas, are intriguing and have backstories that I can't wait to see explored more fully. They have distinct personalities and as we go through the series it's becoming clear they deal with trauma quite a bit differently.While the story is dealing with vampires, a topic that has been looked at quite a bit in fiction, I still feel as though it's getting a unique perspective. Vampires don't have a lot of the weaknesses or strengths typically associated with them and the reason they exist in the first place is different as well. I'm looking forward to learning more about how vampires came to be in this universe.All in all, I definitely recommend the series to anyone who liked Pandora Hearts and to anyone who enjoys a story that is dealing with some darker themes but maintains a certain lightness to it (so far; I'm anticipating that the more revelations we gain on specific characters the more that may change). The 3rd volume kind of focused more on the relationships than the story. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad , but I would love some more of the plot. (There does seem to be character development which is nice.)
